About West Ridge
They begin to label the area West Ridge to distinguish between parts of the neighborhood. Some still label these areas as neighborhoods while others still call the entire are West Rogers Park. Even more confusion some refer to the neighborhood as Nortown.

West Ridge is 10 miles north of the Loop. The neighborhood offers affordable rent in a trendy and quiet neighborhood. Historical mansions, Georgian architecture (Ranches, Victorian, and Bungalows), and large condos are just some of the housing choices available. New developments and renovations have recently re-surged.

An ethnic culinary delight awaits for all in West Ridge. Little India a stretch on Devon Avenue is home to Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai, Pakistani, and Croatian cuisine. One of the best Indian restaurants in Chicago is Hema’s Kitchen; diners can enjoy vegetables samos, lamb and cauliflower, and many vegetarian dishes. For dessert head to Mom’s Bake Shoppe and restaurant for a Philippines influenced treat known as ensemada which are coiled cakes.

West Ridge is also a great place to hang out at night for anyone. There are many casual neighborhood pubs, sports bars, places to play pool, karaoke, and even a Arabic night club experience complete with hookahs.

This neighborhood has a certain air of elegance which means that events that could be rather rowdy won’t happen in this area. There are many street festivals or other events that take place here. The one annual event is the India Independence Day Parade that takes place on W Devon Avenue. The Parade takes place in mid August to celebrate the Indian culture and heritage
