Commonly referred to as West L.A, the neighborhood of West Los Angeles is located in the Westside area of Los Angeles City. Claiming only a small portion of the whole region, the name of the neighborhood "West Los Angeles" might be confused at times with Westside – which is a larger constituency.
About West Los Angeles
The siting of several skyscraping office buildings and the cluster of various Japanese controlled businesses in the central region of West L.A has made the district a boisterous commercial hub. Residential houses in the area are not as high as the commercial buildings. These houses were built in the 20s and 60s. However, modern residential apartments are springing up, just as population pressure increases with area sedan services to LAX and back are helping grow this city with business professionals.

An ancient public school for public secondary school student, which was named after the UCLA is located in the West L.A neighborhood. The University High School is one of the oldest high schools located in Los Angeles City that still wears the initial looks of the old US high school. Battered by earthquake, the institution is yet to undergo complete renovation. The school has been a common shooting site for film production over the years even during school hours. The campus is famous as an historic site of anartesian well reverenced by the Tongya people.

The initiative of the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist veterans to send and receive mails through the use of computers led to the establishment of the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacies (CMOPs), which are strategically located throughout the country. However West Los Angeles is among the few locations chosen to site the CMOP.

The neighborhood also holds possession of a field office for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Los Angeles. It is located in Wilshire Boulevard close to the 405 freeway.

As a result of its high population of the Hispanic race – especially Latino immigrants from Oaxaca, the district is blest with restaurants that specialize in preparing Mexican dishes and shops owned and controlled by Mexicans.

The neighborhood owns a public relaxation spot known as the Stoner Recreation Center. It is located at 1835 Stoner Avenue, West Los Angeles, Los Angeles. The recreation center has an amusement park, a BBQ pit, and tables for picnics. The centre is more equipped for sporting activities. It has lighted basketball courts (outdoor), baseball diamond, children’s playground, football field, volleyball courts and lawn tennis courts.
