Weehawken, New Jersey is a township located in Hudson County. Weehawken is a part of the New York Metropolitan area. Weehawken is one of the few towns that comprise NoHu, or North Hudson as it is called in the artistic community. Of the roughly one and a half miles in the city, 46 percent is water.
About Weehawken
The name Weehawken is said to come from the Algonquin language spoken by the Lenape Indian Tribe. The Lincoln Tunnel cuts the town in half and another portion of the town is from the emerging Palisades. Three Naval Ships have been named after Weehawken, New Jersey. Weehawken has been mentioned in a couple of literary works, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and also a book of poetry by Carl Sandburg called The Cornhuskers. The main commercial path is Park Avenue, which is occupied by local shops and eateries. King’s Bluff is a historic district located at the edge of the Palisades. The Weehawken water tower, built in 1883, serves as a warning to ships and is known as "The Red Tower." The Lincoln Tunnel approach is an eight lane viaduct that leads into the Lincoln Tunnel Toll Plaza. The 9/11 Memorial on the Hudson River Walk is in honor of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Bus, Ferry and Light rail all provide public transportation in Weehawken. New Jersey Transit provides many routes throughout the city and outside of the city.
