Central Wisconsin Airport abbreviated CWA is located 5 miles southeast of downtown Mosinee, Wisconsin and serves Wausau, Stevens Point, Marshfield, and Wisconsin Rapids in Marathon County. Wausau’s metropolitan area has a population so more than 80 thousand people.

Things to do in Wausau
Leigh Yawkey Woodson played a huge role in shaping two museums in Wausau one that goes by her name and the other is the Marathon County Historical Museum. The latter is the home of her late parents. Hike in the Rib Mountain State Park and in the winter you can ski or snowboard. There are fees to ski the slopes. At Granite Peak there is great skiing.

Walk alongside the Wisconsin River on the lighted walking tails which includes a Pedestrian bridge. Pick strawberries in the summer at the Black Creek Strawberry Farm Edgar, WI. Other activities include kayaking, fishing, boating, and other water sport. There are 16 places for boat landings that give you access to the Wisconsin River. Places to fish include Bluegill Bay Park, Oak Island Park, and Gilbert Park. You can also go over to Schofield Dam to fish. Even in the winter months you can find fishing in Wausau.

Enjoy a warm, friendly, relaxed, and cozy atmosphere if you visit The Back When Café. They use fresh, organically grown local produce as much as possible. If you’re looking for a great steak visit WISH on Jelineck Ave in Weston.

There are many national hotel chains in the Wausau area including the Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and the Day’s Inn. Within the last 10 years bed and breakfast accommodations have become increasingly popular.

Grandma’s House in Ringle, WI just east of Wausau is set on a wooden farmland which offers some inspiring views. Stewart Inn Bed and Breakfast in downtown Wausau is a 1900’s arts and crafts style home. Enjoy Wi-Fi, private baths, and steam spas. Also in downtown, Rosenberry Inn Bed and Breakfast is a restored house in the historic district. All rooms have a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, and only some rooms have TV’s and fireplaces.
