Richmond International Airport is located about fifteen minutes from the campus and the campus offers shuttle services to the airport. The airport offers rental cars from nine companies, including Avis, Hertz and Budget for transportation to the campus. There is also a taxi rank located at the airport, including taxis from Richmond Fliers and Taxi, that will take you to the visitor center from the terminal. There are no trains, subways or other forms of rail transportation from the airport to the campus.

The Virginia Commonwealth University offers shuttle services from the visitor center of the campus to the airport for a small nominal fee to the students account. They also offer parent and visitor pickup shuttles from the visitor center to the airport and back for a small fee on the students account. Their fees are generally priced much lower than taxi and sedan services. A form for shuttle services can be filled out at the campus. Hours and availability are subject to change.

There are many things to do near Virginia Commonwealth University. One of the most sought after attractions is the American Civil War Museum, which offers both self-guided and tour guided trips through the museum and offers insightful history into the Civil War Era.

The White House of the Confederacy (also known as the home of Jefferson Davis) offers daily tours as well. The Virginia Repertory Theater offers some of the most amazing stage plays that you could ever witness, including their annual productions of Christmas Carol, Fences, Death of a Salesman, and many others, including children’s themed plays, such as Charlie Brown.
