Valdosta itself has a population of over 54 thousand and is the fourteenth largest city in Georgia. The region is characterized by its plantations; it hot humid summers and mild winters make this a nice place to visit. Things to do in Valdosta See a performance at the Dosta Playhouse located at 122 N. Ashley Street; there are various performances throughout the year. Take the kids on a "Wild Adventure" a theme park and a zoo; there’s a connecting water park called Splash Island. It’s located at 3766 Old Clyattville Road. If you like golf the best places to go are either the Stone Creek Golf Course (4300 Coleman Rd North) or Kinderlou Forest Golf Club (3374 US highway 84 W). Go to the Valdosta Mall while your shopping you can take the kids over to the Fun Factory to play video games and rider the rides. There is also a play area in front of Belk on the west side of the mall. Hike the hiking trails in the Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area. While there you can hike the 2,000 foot boardwalk, take a peek at the 54 foot observation tower, and canoe or boat on the Blackgum Swamp. If you want to go dancing go to either the Morven Music Hall or the Watkins Music Hall both feature live music. Valdosta State University features a theater and a Fine Arts Gallery.
