Uptown Airport Shuttle Service
Walking is a popular method of transportation in uptown with its close proximity to the Loop and many of the amenities right the resident’s doorstep. If you would rather drive parking can be a bit had to find. There are metered spaces and spaces that require a parking permit. The Chicago Transit Authority CTA operates the bus system in the area. The CTA Red and Purple lines run through most major streets.

About Uptown The Green Mile served as court for Al Capone with Machine Gun Kelly managing the club. This area was so aptly named the Broadway of Chicago. Today Uptown is considered a picturesque lakefront neighborhood with exciting club, great shopping, and a plethora of ethnic restaurants. This historic neighborhood is filled with iconic landmark mansions, condos, apartments, and homes that will fit almost any budget and lifestyle. Just 6 and a half miles north of the Loop this area is still continuing with renovations as are the value of the property in the area. Uptown makes its borders along Lake Michigan which makes for a long extending beach system. Many residents enjoy the biking and jogging paths, beach volleyball or in the winter hills to sled. If you want to take your dog along with you make sure you go the Susan Kimmelman Off-leash dog beach. That way your pooch can meet some new friends and you can let fido off the leash for a little fun. Other fun outdoor places to visit include the Wilson Avenue Skatepark. Little Saigon (not Chinatown) is also concentrated in this area on Argyle Street from Broadway Street to Sheridan Road. This area of Uptown is full of Asian style restaurants, grocery stores, and other Asian inspired shops. Some of the more familiar shops in Uptown are Target and Starbucks. Uptown is working to restore itself back to the old glory of the cultural days. There are numerous nightclubs, music venues and theaters. Some of the local favorites include The Green Mill Lounge, Diftwood, Reservoir, and Hopeleaf. The Chicago Annual LGBT Pride Parade route begins in Uptown for two years. During this time many of the local owned businesses held extended business hours to accommodate the parade-goers. The Pride Parade is traditionally held in June. In July the Windy City RibFest is a 3 day music food, and craft fest that offers something for everyone. There is even a play for kids. |
