Things you can do to prepare before you get to the airport
When leaving on your trip there are a few things you can do to make how you get in and out of an airport easier. One of the best ways to avoid chaos is to make sure you arrive early. Many travelers do not want to wait around at the airport but arriving a little earlier might help make your trip a pleasant journey instead of a stressful event.
Arrive as early as possible If you are traveling by domestic flight then you may want to make sure your bags are checked at least 1.5 hours before your flight departs. If you are not checking any bags arriving an hour before hand should be fine. For international travelers it will likely take longer so plan to arrive at least 2 hours early. This should give you plenty of time to check-in and clear customs while you wait to board the plane. It is also recommended that you take note of the hours for the ticket counters of the airline you are flying with so you can plan accordingly. |
Checking in for your flight While checking in at a flight counter has been a customary way doing things in past years, there are many other options for travelers these days such as online check-in through the airline’s website. Many airlines now offer the convenience of self-service check-in kiosks as well as curbside check-in. Curbside check-in allows you to check your bags and get your boarding pass all in one place before you even enter the airport. |
Prepare before you leave While it may seem easier to search and book a hotel room or airport ride once you arrive at your destination, you run a chance that availability may become limited. In addition, the lowest rates are usually booked early while last minute bookings tend to cost more as the availability decreases. There is also the possibility that you arrive at an airport which has convention center attendees all arriving at once making travel more congested and difficult. |
