Yellow cabs are unmetered, while white cabs are. About Tijuana Airport In 2008 the airports decided to make a U.S. Mexico terminal. Property was secured in 2008 on the U.S. side. And August 3rd, 2010 Otay-Tijuana Venture, LLC was born. The terminal opened in 2013. The terminal consists of being on U.S. soil. Its purpose is to check in departing flights. No arrival flights fly into this terminal. If offers its own parking and customs office as well. The major airline for Tijuana International Airport, is Volaris. It is the airports leading carrier. The second popular airline is Areomexico, which is a local airline, which travels to 15 different cities across Mexico. The other airlines that fly to and from the airport include, Interjet, and VivaAreobus. The airport was first built 1958 and was led to the designation of the old one, which turned into an Armed Forces base. The airport was then renovated in 2002. They are building another terminal currently. The airport consists of a single runway, 2 concourses, and main terminal with 23 gates, and food courts, duty free shops as well.
