Next up is the Shedd Aquarium. It had its humble beginnings as a standalone fish tank and now it has evolved into one of the state of the art oceanariums. The sharp tooth sharks, rain forest amphitheater, dolphins and other animals make this a must see for adults and children. You'll also want to check out Burnham Park and Solider Field. See the Bears in action but if you didn't know football is not the only sport played at the field. The park also has walking and jogging trails, baseball fields, and bike paths. Charter One Pavilion is an open air amphitheater that seats more than 7500 people. Have a picnic on the grounds while enjoying a great show.
South Loop |
As more people are more interested in living, working, and playing in one area the South Loop is becoming a popular destination for those looking to shorten their commute. South Loop answers the demand for stylish modern housing with smooth rides from ORD International Airport. | |
About the South Loop New condos and townhouses as well as fresh businesses are popping up all over the place. The former train depot, warehouses, and factories have been renovated. Many of the tourist attractions are in the South Loop as well. In 1993 Mayor Daley set in motion a chain of events that has forever changed the South Loop when he moved from Bridgeport into the South Loop. Developers quickly moved in to and the housing explosion began. Now the South Loop has become the ideal place to raise a family. Many of the old industrial and commercial buildings have been converted in to hip trendy lofts. New high rises are spring up all over the place. Although most young couples seek out lofts the South Loop has proven itself a great place to raise a family with its proximity to the museum, parks, and Loop. What do we like about the South Loop? For starters, Grant Park. Its home to many festivals, museums, lakefront recreation, and green space. It’s named after the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. In Grant Park there is a statue of President Abe Lincoln and ironically there is a statue of President Grant in Lincoln Park. Bunkingham Fountain shoots sputs of water more than 150 feet into the air. Another must see is the Alder Planetarium. Is one of the first and largest astronomical museums this side of the Atlantic. On Friday nights you can use the telescope in the Doane Observatory. The Planetarium is also open for many celestial events throughout the year. |
