About Silver Lake Like most neighborhoods in the City of Los Angeles, Silver Lake is both residential and commercially organized to serve in the central area of the Californian City of Los Angeles. It is built around Los Angeles City water reservoir from which it derived its name too, where shuttle rides to Los Angeles airport are easy to access due to its central location. The neighborhood of Silver Lake is adorned with exquisite restaurants and clubs for which is its known for and the dwelling place of many famous personalities examples are, the film actor Eddie Cahill, the politician Mike Gatto, Christopher Guanlao, Judy Garland (actress) and Sal Castro. Situated in the neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, Silver Lake is bordered on the northeast by Atwater Village and Eysian Valley and by Echo Park on the southeast, by Westlake on the southwest, by East Hollywood on the West and on by Los Feliz on the northwest. The studio of one of the famous Century City pioneers – Tom Mix is located few blocks away from the neighborhood, right on the Glendale Boulevard. Although the studio can no longer be visibly recognized, the location is currently taken over and controlled by the Mixville Shopping Center. One of Mix’s steed known as "Tony, the wonder Horse" is rumored to be buried on the shopping site. Due to the hilly nature of the district, the neighborhood of Silver Lake is well constructed with pathways and staircases for the sake of easing pedestrian movement within the municipal, some of these stairs include Redcliffe, Music Box and Descanso Stairs. The neighborhood of Silver Lake is said to be the most stylish and trendy neighborhood in Los Angeles due to the availability of numerous dining halls and restaurants, bars and night clubs. Sometimes Silver Lake is nicknamed the "Williamsburg of the West" due to the prominence of the indie rock music in the area. This movement has been part of the tradition of Silver Lake since the late 90s. The neighborhood has been the hub to the music genre (alternative and indie rock) in Los Angeles. This attribute contributes to its widely recognized popularity and plays a vital role in tourism, as people travel from far and near to come and witness indie rock scenes in the district. |
