The maxi-taxis operate along a fixed route and carry passengers for a fixed fare amount. Some maxi-taxis will take you off the beaten path with some negotiation. Between the Port of Spain and Scarborough there is a ferry service. Travel times are approximately 3 hours daily and are relatively inexpensive. Water taxis also run carry about 400 passengers to and from the Port of Spain. The service is subsidized and takes about 50 minutes.
