About San Pedro Sula The International Airport had gotten its name from a very popular and respected President of Honduras, “Ramon Villeda Morales”. The airport was previously known as “The Table”. A new terminal is to be completed during the year of 2015, but not to worry because the airport will be easy to get around. All flights are handled on the second level of the airport, which is where the security area is. The first floor holds a few stores and restaurants, a bank to pay the departure tax, ATMs and money exchange booths, and of course – the ticket counters. The airport itself has handled about 742,000 passengers in 2010. They handle 150 flights internationally and domestically. The airport will provide short connections to many tourist attractions such as the Mayan Ruins of Copan, the Caribbean beaches of Tela and Roatan, and La Ceiba. As one of the most important cities of Honduras, it is a city with a large degree of development during the past century. San Pedro Sula is a highly commercial city with many banks, shopping malls and other types of stores, bars and restaurants. Festivals and activities such as livestock fairs and crafts happen every June in honor of San Pedro.
