BDA airport transfers As the main arrival point for the island of Bermuda, the Royal Naval Dockyard is located along the far western tip of the hook-shaped isle, between King’s Wharf and Heritage Wharf. For getting around, a bus network is available at the corner of Dockyard Terrace and North Arm, though the ferry terminal just outside the Bermuda Visitor Centre offers much faster lifts across the Great Sound. Also available at the information center is complimentary Wi-Fi, pamphlets on surrounding activities and bus tickets (though be wary of the schedule). Avoid depending on others by booking a personal lift instead, choosing between the simplicity of a couples-friendly sedan, or the family-friendly safety of SUVs, each perfect for scenic drives along the island’s floating Somerset Road. Also helpful are meet-and-greet services that include local personal drivers aware of the beauty of the moment, as well as chauffeured limousines that pair elegant downtown Hamilton dining with likewise arrivals.
An island of landmarks, Bermuda makes it easy to get lost and found, especially with what’s close to the cruise ship’s Royal Navy Dockyard. Spend the morning shopping through the Bermuda Craft Market’s vast array of locally made souvenirs, afterward soaking up the sun at Snorkel Park for the afternoon. Continue toward the National Museum of Bermuda for a view of the city’s old fort, as well as a uniquely curated blend of maritime history and culture. Spend the rest of the afternoon park-hopping, continuing south down Pender Road to reach such hidden landmarks as Lodge Point Park and Theo’s Cove, or experience the vast fortress lookouts at Fort Scaur a bit further away. Along the waters of the Great Sound are other landmarks like the Port Royal Golf Course as well as the 19th-century ambiance of Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, not to mention a myriad of English-style attractions like the Queen Elizabeth Park Par La Ville and the famed lagoon doing spots at Crystal and Fantasy Caves. |
