Visitors may reach the building via shuttle, taxi or limousine service from the three local airports: Reagan National , Dulles International and the Baltimore Washington International . In addition, the building has on-site access to the orange, blue and silver lines of the Federal Triangle Metro service, which is connected to the building with a convenient covered passageway. For access to the red line, The Metro Center Metro Station is just two blocks away. About the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center The building was created in 1987 under a conceptual design that would reflect the enterprise, excitement, vigor and strength of the American government. It also provides an important pedestrian pathway between the city’s business district and the famous National Mall. The building is known for its stunningly harmoniously blend of functionality and artistic architecture, which is highlighted by dazzling artwork and atmospheric lighting. This beautiful and spacious building is known all over America and internationally for its fine architecture, which includes the Woodrow Wilson Ballroom and atrium, grand halls and luxury conference centers. Known as Washington D.C.’s premier conference facility, the building provides space for up to 1,000 people in the selection of business conference halls and ballrooms. Weddings, large celebrations, and charity galas are frequently held in the various ball rooms, as well as the luxurious main Pavilion. Tourists come from all over the world to view the many interesting art and cultural exhibitions hosted here at the Ronald Reagan Building. Currently on display is the fascinating Berlin Wall exhibition, where attendants can see a large piece of the original Berlin Wall, still bearing rebellious graffiti that maintains its demand for freedom today. Another unique exhibition is the Make It In America display, which features innovation and creativity across the ages in the American manufacturing industry. Fans of sculpture will enjoy the Oscar Strauss Memorial Fountain, located at the 14th Street entrance of the building. This beautiful three-tiered fountain statue features two figures that are meant to be physical manifestations of Justice and Reason, which stand as a testament to several important values in American culture such as capitalism, religious freedom and limitless opportunity. Other points of interest nearby include the weekly farmers market, Capital Harvest on the Plaza, known to locals as CHOP. Visitors can peruse many wonderful items, including fresh produce and handicrafts provided by residents of the near areas. The area is quite pedestrian friendly, with plenty of sidewalks and routes to explore the financial district, art galleries and local restaurants.
