At the heart of Daytona Beach, Fla. is the 5th largest Florida convention center – Ocean Center. It features a full 205,000 square feet of space with 42,000 square feet used for exhibit space in the main arena. It also carries 12,000 feet of available space within its Ballroom, with 32,000 more square feet for meeting rooms. | |
About the Ocean Center This arena has a new addition to its Exhibit Hall that boasts of 94,695 square feet and a ceiling that is 22 to 45 feet high, and a drive-in door that is 20’x16′, and six loading docks, all with self-adjusting levelers. The outdoor parking lot and exhibit space is 100,000 square feet and situated near the Exhibit Hall. The doors opened in 1985 and the Ocean Center offered 60,000 square feet total exhibit space with 18 breakout rooms. It was the Christian pop-singer Amy Grant who performed her the very first concert there on October 3rd, 1985. She sang to 2,938 people. Two days later John Denver performed there to a large crowd of 7,368. Some notable events held at the Ocean Center are the Harlem Globetrotters, Larry the Cable Guy, Miss Teen USA Pageant, WWE Live and Ringling Brothers circus. The fabulous funny Sesame Street gang has appeared there frequently with figure skating events and performances from classic skaters like Michelle Kwan, Rosalyn Summers, Dorothy Hamill, Tara Lapinski and more. Things to do in Daytona Beach The Daytona Lagoon draws its fair share of crowds as well, with a large family fun center loaded with water rides and even dry entertainment on land. There are tall water slides and a giant wave pool, as well as smaller play areas for kids to splash in. There are other activities to enjoy like laser tag, rock climbing and riding go-karts. The LPGA International Club is the headquarters for the Ladies’ Pro Golf Association. There are 2 world-class 4-star golf courses especially designed to accommodate all skill levels.
