Nome Airport Shuttles
Nome shuttle to the airport
Nome is located on the coast and is inaccessible by car or ferry. The only way into or out of Nome is via the Nome Airport, private boats, or on dogsled or snowmobile trails.

Beyond the air shuttle services, there are a variety of cab services that are available for people coming into Nome and staying in town. These include Checker Cab, Mr. Kab and EZ Transportation, all of which are available for contact to pre-reserve their services to ensure that travelers are not left waiting at the airport.

Vehicle rentals are also available through a handful of providers, including Stampede Vehicle Rentals, Dredge No 7 Inn, and Stosh’s Rental. Be aware that unlike many airports, these are not large chain rental establishments and the recommended vehicles will be SUVs or similarly rugged machines that are equipped to handle the snow and ice of Nome.

The primary provider of commercial flights to and from Nome is Alaska Airlines, which recommends allowing two hours to check in before your flight.

Nome is well known as the home of the Iditarod. This is where the competitors finish each March and is the source of much of the city’s tourism. The race begins the first Saturday every March, and the population of Nome increases by an average of one thousand people every year at this time.

The area of Nome, directly south of the arctic circle, is home to three distinct groups of native Eskimo peoples. Visitors to Nome can enjoy exploring the rich cultural history of these peoples and the region.
