New Orleans Morial Convention Center Shuttles |
New Orleans has been being built back up ever since the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina, and part of that includes the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. | |
There is an Shuttle service, as well as a Limo service called Convention Limos. The shuttle service serves the airport, transport to and from hotels, and even to the convention center. The Convention Center is easily accessible by airport shuttles, cars, buses, and streetcars. The W-2, W-3, and W-8 bus lines have a stop directly in front of the convention center. The 2nd riverfront street-car line also has a stop right next to the convention center. The Center also features ample parking space in a garage appended to the building, as well as locations within walking distance in the surrounding area, so driving is also an option. Hotels in New Orleans The Whitney Hotel has a more boutique look about it. It offers Wi-Fi service to patrons, and is centrally located. The Whitney Hotel was originally a bank, and is considered a historic building. Onsite you will find a restaurant so your stay can be easier. There is a very wide variety of hotels to choose from when looking for accommodations near the Convention Center. Directly across the street from the convention center is the Hyatt Place. The three star hotel offers a business center, restaurant, fitness center, a bar/lounge, and perhaps most importantly very easy access to the convention center and the nearby, exciting areas of New Orleans. The more upscale International House Boutique Hotel is another option, less than a mile away from the convention center. In addition to the standard hotel offerings such as business and fitness centers, the hotel also features tennis courts and a golf course. About the New Orleans Convention Center One of the things the convention center is known for is the sanctuary it provided people during and after Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of people took refuge in the center, without proper preparation to care for so many. That has been a bit of a controversy ever since that catastrophe. The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is located in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana and near Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). Many of the city’s world famous restaurants stand a short distance away from the center, and the world-famous cultural hub known as the French Quarter lies less than two miles away. The French Quarter is a U.S National Historic landmark, with numerous historic buildings, artists, and street musicians. Also the historic St. Charles streetcar drives right along the convention center to the beautiful homes of the Garden District. Since the hurricane which left New Orleans in such ruins, the convention center has been renovated. The new additions include a 4,032 seat theater, called the New Orleans Theater. The new theater serves many functions, including being used as a concert hall, staging Broadway shows, and other events which need a good space. Besides the theater, there is a great convention room. Many companies use the facilities to host large shows to accommodate thousands of people. Trade shows need a lot of space for booths, tables, and displays of all types, and this place has all of that and more. The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center also has a lobby which is home to a UPS store. There is Internet available for anyone who uses the center. There is even an on-site restaurant to make it convenient for all who come there, no matter what the event. One of the great things about this convention center is that it is completely handicap accessible, even to the point of renting out Mobility Scooters. The Convention Center has 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space, making it the sixth largest convention facility in the United States, and it is one of the top ten destinations for trade shows and conventions. The center features numerous amenities including Internet, onsite dining, and accommodation for visitors with disabilities. The convention center features high speed Internet with speeds up to 45 megabytes per second, which it provides exclusively to its visitors. The staff can provide Internet access to every single room in the facility. Furthermore, the convention center features a 24 hour business center with on-demand printing. For food services, the convention center offers both large-scale catering and on site dining locations. The on-site locations include both concessions stands in the exhibition halls as well as retail cafes in the lobby. The convention center also caters to visitors needing accessibility services. Wheelchairs are available upon request. Also, the center is fully equipped with handicapped-access ramps. There are also braille instructions and directions placed throughout the building for blind visitors. Additionally, there are pay phones located at each floor of the building, equipped with devices to aid the hearing impaired. Contact Information |
