About Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum This versatile venue has hosted many famous events for decades, including hockey games, concerts, religious events, celebrations, trade shows and festivals. It is a well-known and much-loved part of New York’s history, and its legacy is dedicated to the memory of the veterans who once served at the original army base. A single pour of 450 yards of concrete began the construction of what became one of the most lively sports and event arenas in New York today. The massive facility measures a total of 409, 963 sq. ft. of space featuring a 97-ft. high ceiling, with a deep ice floor that sits 20 ft. below the ground. The building has 67 pairs of doors to accommodate the large crowds which frequently fill the halls for all types of interesting local and national events. There is 60, 000 sq. ft. of unobstructed, column-free exhibition space in the expo center, making it ideal for trade fairs, car shows, and large conferences. An additionally spacious 44,000 sq. ft. makes up the main exhibition hall, where a number of festivals, meetings, classes and other events take place as well. The coliseum presently provides seating for up to 16, 170 guests. This famous venue has hosted Wrestlemania, and major events in tennis, basketball, soccer, bull riding, lacrosse, and hockey. It is known to many as the site of a world-famous standoff between boxers Roddy Piper and Mr. T. David Bowie, The Grateful Dead, Marshall Tucker, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen have all graced the Nassau Memorial’s sparkling marquee and it remains a top choice for internationally known recording artists’ concerts today. The box office is equipped with 17 ticket windows to readily serve excited customers. The perimeter of the coliseum features 32 luxury suites, and Doolin’s Pub & Bistro provides on-site catering for parties of up to 250 people. While in Uniondale, you’re sure to be entertained by the variety of local attractions on scenic Long Island.
