About Malibu
The story of Malibu itself is simple and beautiful. Hundreds and hundreds of years old, the name Malibu derives from the Native American tribe of the Chumash who lived here and called the area: ‘Humaliwo’ which means: ‘the surf sounds loudly. Spanish explorers came in the fifteen hundreds and Malibu became part of the Rancho Topanga Malibu Sequit thirteen thousand acre land grant in 1802.

Technically, Malibu is one of the largest cities in the United States. It has over one hundred square miles of area. The only problem with that is over eighty square miles of it is underwater and ocean space, so that leaves less than twenty miles of land. You can see all the beauty Malibu has to offer when you book a pickup from LAX airport and relax while looking at the ocean view when you visit here.

Year round, Malibu has an estimated twelve thousand five hundred year-round residents with about five thousand households. The average median household income is over one hundred thousand dollars per year.
Malibu is located on the well-known piece of American roadway named the Pacific Coast Highway, and has what seems to be endless beaches as its neighbors: Dan Blocker Beach, Topanga Beach, Point Dume Beach, Malibu Beach, Leo Carrillo State Beach, and Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach. No wonder it is such a paradise for surfers.
In as much that Malibu is such a beautiful, gorgeous haven, it is also a target for natural disasters. It does know and is affected by wildfires, earthquakes, and mudslides. They can and do occur at any time. Add that fact to the other fact that it costs an estimated two hundred thousand dollars to own one foot of beachfront in Malibu, it is no wonder that it has been nicknamed: “The World’s Most Expensive Sandbox.”

Education in the Malibu area offers three public elementary schools, middle and high schools, and also a number of private school options. In addition, there are community colleges, state colleges, and private college near Malibu.
