The Mag Mile ambiance doesn't just start with skyscrapers and shopping; with each changing season there is something new and exciting to experience. In the spring thousands of tulips bloom, during the summer the Gardens of the Magnificent Mile festival is held, and the summer is also full of concerts presented by Walgreens. During the Christmas holiday don't miss the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival which also includes a fireworks presentation; the day if full of special guest, musical guest, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse are usually present along with other Disney friends. Public Performances are also a huge part of the culture in the neighborhood.

The Magnificent Mile is commonly referred to as The Mag Mile. It is one of the more affluent neighborhoods that are bounded by the Chicago River. It is adjacent to and often competes with the Loop neighborhood also located in Chicago IL, a short drop off from ORD Airport.
About Magnificent Mile
While most Chicagoans live in bungalows, condos, apartments, and houses either on the North or South side The Magnificent Mile is where they all come to work and play just like the Loop neighborhood. It was nicknamed in 1940 by real estate developer Arthur Rubloff. The Mag Mile is home to some of the tallest buildings, best museums, private sedan rides to convention centers and it has the largest shopping center in Chicago. The Mag Mile is home to 5 of the tallest buildings in the world with executive sedan rides to O’Hare Airport.

The John Hancock Center is the seventh tallest building in the United States and at one time it was the second largest sealing the rivalry between The Mag Mile and the Loop forever (The Loop is now home to the 2nd largest building in the United States, The Willis Tower). Trump Towers (and Hotel) is another recognizably tall building located here.

Just dub this area the Boardwalk of Chicago. Here you will find a number of high end stores like Barney’s New York, Bloomindale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstoms, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Some of the more affluent boutique stores that only have a few North American locations can also be found here: Cartier, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, and Tom Ford. The largest Ralph Lauren store in the world is located on N Michigan Avenue.

Arguably the Mag Mile has been ranked at the third most expensive neighborhood to live-in, in the United States behind Fifth Avenue in New York and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills; the rent in the area increased by 46 percent in 2013. Currently prices range from the mid $100’s to t$13.9 million depending on the type of property you are looking to buy. Don’t let those figures discourage you, the Mag Mile is one of the best neighborhoods to live in and it has so much to offer its residents such as chauffeur rides to the airport.
