The Lower East Side and East Village Airport Shuttle Service
NYU students gather heavily in the East Village but they spill over into LES with some regularity. While the demographics make the two neighborhoods look vastly different on paper, it is more a matter of finding which neighborhood you will fit into better. As far as the "vibe" of the area goes, most locals agree that there is not a large difference between the two. The East Village tends to be more progressive than LES, but anything that happens in one most often makes its way over into the other eventually. The difference between the West Side and the East Side is much more pronounced than the difference between LES and East Village.
The Lower East Side & East Village |
Geographically, the Lower East Side (abbreviated by locals as LES) and East Village are right on top of each other, and historically they were one and the same. But demographically speaking the two neighborhoods are drifting farther and farther away from each other. | |
About The Lower East Side and East Village Both neighborhoods are fairly evenly divided between males and females. The average age of residents for both are in their mid to upper thirties and love to travel, and with departures to JFK and from LGA International. This makes for a pretty similar nightlife in both neighborhoods. Both sections have streets with a lot of action and streets that die down pretty early. A youthful sect of Lower Manhattan, the East Village is known for its blend of trendy restaurants and vibrant live music venues that flow from Washington Square Park to the East River. A great place to get a low-key vacation, you’ll have independent theaters, shops, and restaurants perfect for saying you saw The Big Apple’s best hidden gems. Get to know every corner of it by getting a ride you can trust, booking a shuttle for the convenience of custom drop-offs, or going with a local personal driver for the luxury of knowing what’s happening on any given night. Get to know the East Village by staying in one of its most cherished hotels, a rare thing to find in a mostly residential community, but made easy by stays like East Village Hotel, a modern choice home to modern efficiencies and bright themes, while The Standard on Cooper Square offers floor-to-ceiling windows inside an aged red brick exterior. For something simpler, stay at the St Marks Hotel instead, another historic option with basic rooms and an attached pizzeria, while Lafayette House blends priceless antiques with 3-star perks in an old brownstone. Lovers of entertainment will find no shortage in things to do while they stay in the area, from the award-winning performances at STOMP, a famous theater also known for its Little Shop of Horrors production, to the folk art and textiles showcased inside the Ukrainian Museum. Find even more international appeal at Toy Tokyo, a Japanese emporium filled with rare memorabilia, as well as the Russian & Turkish Baths, which provide upscale spa treatments in an old-world setting. End the evening with a stroll through Tompkins Square Park, a historic space renowned for its weekend farmer’s market and close access to renowned eateries, from fast food burgers at Superiority Burger to late-night Korean at Thursday Kitchen. |
