The university students, faculty and staff have a free bus service known as the LSU Tiger Trails Transit System which is convenient and safe. These buses have improved features which increase efficiency and safety. The seating capacity is increased and all the buses are equipped with ventilation that is improved.  Another bus that can be used is the Greyhound bus whose terminal is 2.5 miles north of the university.

Louisiana State University is a public university that is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was founded in the year 1853 and is the largest institution, in terms of student enrollment.

About Louisiana State University
The university is designated as a se-grant, land-grant and space-grant institution. It has extensive research facilities and operates around eight hundred sponsored research projects. It is a university that has cultural diversity and recruits graduates and undergraduates from around the world. The university has currently more than one thousand five hundred international students as well as over four thousand four hundred graduate students.

The Baton Rouge Area     
There are many attractions and places that are near the university including the Old State Capitol. Built in 1847,this building is a Gothic castle that is striking. It hosts various events and can also be rented out for weddings and other occasions. The castle was burnt down by the Union Army, and was repaired in 1882. It then served as the state capitol until the new State Capitol building was opened in 1932.

You can also visit the Veterans Memorial and USS Kidd this place follows after the USS KIDD which was a ship that was named after Admiral Campbell Kidd, Senior. This ship has been used in several movies and historical documentaries. Visitors are able to come aboard the ship to see it as well as learn all about its past. There is also a museum and an observation tower.

Louisiana State Capitol this is a landmark structure that stands at 450 ft. high and has 34 floors. The interior has marbles which came from many countries and the exterior is made of limestone. This is a place that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

LSU Rural Life Museum this is a museum that presents the cultures and lifestyles of pre-industrial Louisiana. It consists of the Folk Architecture which is a collection of buildings illustrating the influences of culture for Louisiana’s settlers. It also consists of the Barn that has items from the prehistoric times to the 20th century.

Baton Rouge Zoo this is a zoo which is home to both domestic and exotic animals. The collection include rhinos, large cats, otters, reptiles as well as amphibians of Louisiana. There is a parrot paradise also that has colorful and rare birds from the tropics.
