The Kemper Street Station serves as a hub for many modes of transportation including the Intercity passenger rail and public bus system. The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company GLTC operates the local bus service and provides shuttle service to LU. The GLTC LU buses are free and only operate around the University area. Fare on the bus is inexpensive for single direction trips but multi-day passes are available. However outside of downtown and the university area a car is necessary. Trips by bus may require long walks and travel time is in excess of an hour. Liberty University abbreviated LU is located in Lynchburg, Virginia.
