LBJ airport transfers A major attraction of the Lesser Sunda Islands, the vibrant nature of Komodo Island is one that’s home to a vibrant national park on the north end as well as dramatic views of the Flores Sea from stoic beaches and cliff sides. Filled with the island’s signature Komodo dragons, guests can book various tours throughout the region to witness giant reptiles in action, or go on a private hike in hopes of seeing one on the fly. A couple hundred miles from any major cruise port, most cruises are expected to anchor just along the island, dropping passengers off through smaller boat tenders. A small village is located on the southern end of the island as well, making a set of wheels somewhat applicable - choose from a few ride pick ups to make things easier, going with basic meet-and-greet services like local personal drivers or taxis perfect for dropping off to the national park.
Once on the island, most destinations can be reached through hiking, so be sure to bring a good pair of shoes - the most obvious attraction is Komodo National Park, a certified world heritage site that offers entrance through tour guides, many of whom speak excellent English, while hot and dusty steps are bleated by the sun - in addition to good hiking shoes, be sure to bring strong sun lotion and breezy clothing! Guests can reach a small village located along a southern cove as well, walking along a scenic pier on the way to a few souvenir shops and local restaurants ideal for getting to know the community. Scuba divers interested in discovering something amazing will find vivid fish in shallow waters of the island, as well as dramatic views of the local Manta Ray population at Manta Point just off the coast, a bit further the vibrant coral reefs and tortoises of Batu Bolong awaits. |
