About Grand Canyon Airport
The Grand Canyon is simply that, grand. It is 277 miles long, 18 miles wide and almost one mile deep. It is a part of the National Park Service.

The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is the largest airport close to the canyon. Over 100,000 people a day come through here. You could rent a car, but the canyon is 3 1/2 miles away. Shuttles are not easy to obtain for that distance.

Treat yourself to an experience; take a connecting flight to the Grand Canyon National Airport. This airport was originally built in 1933. It sits in the picturesque town of Tusayan, Arizona. In 2011, the airport received a grant from the state of Arizona. Working with the original drawings and pictures from the time, the airport was restored to its original beauty. Working with the parks service, shuttles run several times a day from the airport directly to the south rim of the canyon.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is the most desired spot to start your journey. From here you can take a mule ride into the canyon. Maybe you want to see the canyon by airplane or helicopter. If water is to your liking, you can rent or go a group canoe trip. The North Rim is lovely, but the terrain is rough.

Hotels Near GCN
How many folks can say “I stayed where Teddy Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Sir Paul McCartney stayed”. If you stay at El Tovar, you can say just that. The El Tovar is one of the oldest hotels in America. It was built in 1908 by Charles Whittlesley. He was the main engineer/architect on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad.

In 1984, it was declared a Historic Sight on the National Registry. It reflects the period of time when Norwegian design was popular. The limestone slate and pine give it a look like no other. The El Tovar also has several places to dine.

With such majestic scenery, you need accommodations just as splendid. The Grand Hotel sits right at the South Rim. The Grand looks as if it was built with the canyon in mind. There are rooms that can sleep one to suites that sleep 5. Go with one of their suites. Each one of these has a open room over looking the canyon. You can walk out on your own private balcony and see the canyon for hours. It is simply breathtaking.

All guests have full access to the luxurious spa, indoor and outdoor pools. Every morning you are treated to breakfast, newspapers and a work out room. Best yet, the Grand has a concierge service that works directly with the park. You can book any tour at the hotel that the park offers. There is no need to wait and book at the canyon’s visitor center. The Grand Hotel offers 3 restaurants with cuisines are varied as you.
