If you want to travel on to Barcelona from there, you can take the train. If you’re staying in Girona, you won’t need a car to get around everything will be within walking distance. However, Girona was built on top of a hill and the cobblestone street and steep stairs for traveling up the hill are not for the unfit. If you can’t do the stairs or you have someone that has limited mobility, you can rent a car to get around.

Things to do in Girona
The houses that line the street next to the river are beautiful. If you travel in the summer, the river won’t be there; it dries up in the summer. You can charter a boat with or without a crew; golf on some of the best sources you find in the world, and visit Esgesia de Sant Felui or Banys Arabs both churches located in the city. On Saturday’s, the Market opens with plenty of craft stalls and cheap goods. The Market is located near the river bank. Typically Girona can get really hot; you’ll need to drink plenty of water during the day. There are public water fountains all over, and they are located on the city map.
