About Eureka Murray Field Airport The majority of the traffic that passes through Murray Field is local business and 31 percent of the flights are from out of state. The airport has a resident fleet of 79 single engine aircraft, 13 twin-engine planes, and one helicopter. Murray Field offers regular flights to all airports in the area surrounding Eureka and charter flights. Northern Air is the principal service provider to Murray Field. While the FAA includes warnings about deer on the runway and occasional interference with flights from waterfowl in the area, Murray Field has not had a reported accident in its entire history of operation. The airport has one restaurant called the Hangar Cafe. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and has a wide variety of sandwiches, Mexican food, and beverages. The restaurant is very kid friendly and has a view of the runway from every table. Small but efficient, Murray Field is ideal for business travel to Eureka and surrounding cities in California. Murray Field was the brain child of a local boy that saw the future of small planes serving the local market in Eureka. The forward looking vision has paid off for the airport and the county. EKA Area Hotels There are over 50 two and three star motels and hotels on the Redwood Highway in Eureka. The majority offer a view of the Pacific Ocean or Arcata Bay.
