About the Empire Expo Center This versatile expo center is known for hosting the Great New York State Fair, which annually draws over 1 million visitors during its 12-day run. This expo center is dear to the people of Syracuse for its diverse cultural and local events. It is often simply referred to as "the Fairgrounds", and is well known for holding a variety of interesting festivals and events. The Coliseum located inside the expo center was once the original home of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team.
