The convention center is serviced by a light rail system and a trolley system. Driving to Charlotte is also major interstates from the north, south and west serving the city. Hotels in Charlotte About the Charlotte Convention Center The Charlotte Convention Center was opened in 1995 and is among the most visually appealing convention centers in the United States. The convention center has more than 280,000 square feet of world-class exhibit area that can be divided in to four exhibition halls. Meeting rooms are plentiful at the convention center and vary in size. The convention center in Charlotte has more than 90,000 square feet of flexible meeting area. The facility has two enormous ballrooms and a large ballroom terrace that will suit the largest of conventions. The Convention Center ballroom is 35,000 square feet and can be configured to comfortably seat 1800 for dining or 1748 for a classroom. This ballroom can be split into three separate rooms when required. The Crown Ballroom is a 40,000 square foot room that can be configured to comfortably seat 2400 for dining or as a classroom.. The meeting rooms and the both ballrooms all make use of state of the art audio-visual equipment, including high definition displays and cutting edge, wireless connectivity technology. The convention center has a huge loading dock with 20 truck bays that allow for access to the exhibition hall floor.
