About Canton
The land originally belonged to the plantation of John O’Donnell. It was sold to develop the waterfront and businesses supporting blue-collared workers during the early 20th century. When the industrial base fizzled, it left behind decrepit factories, warehouse, and buildings. These have been modernized into loft apartments, entertainment venues, office spaces, and restaurants. But the name of O’Donnell remains prominent in the community as its’ namesake.
