About Baltimore Convention Center The convention center construction became the centerpiece for a massive construction program that has taken over about 11 square blocks in the city. The program was designed to attract tourists and features the Baltimore Orioles home field, the Baltimore Ravens football stadium, and the Sports Legends Museum. The convention center is the hub of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor that features the diversity of food, culture, shopping, and night life in Baltimore. The convention center saw 28.9 million visitors in 2013. The Baltimore Convention Center is considered to be a masterpiece of modern art architecture. The angular exterior framing presents more window space and natural lighting than most convention centers. The Baltimore Convention Center is ranked as one of the most complete and elegant venues for business and pleasure by business journals and tourism experts. The 1.25 million square foot interior provides 300,000 square feet of exhibition halls, 85,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and a 36,000 square foot ball room. The exhibition area and the ballroom are equipped with state of the art audio and visual systems that allow presentations to be made in a single and multiple formats. The ballroom is equipped with an audio system that has been used by artists that range from opera to the hardest of rock. The exhibition area can be automatically sectioned to house four or more different major exhibitions at the same time. Fiber optic and high speed Internet are readily available in all areas of the exhibition complex. Water, power and compressed air are available at 30 foot intervals throughout the exhibition hall. All meeting rooms have access to a centrally located audiovisual projection system Beverages and foods are provided by Centerplate. The facility has 32 loading docks that provide direct access to the exhibition hall and the ball room. The entire facility was designed to be upgraded as need to be as environmentally friendly as possible as new technology emerges.
